Recently I've realised that allowing open-ended posting may be less stress for participants, but also allows us to keep putting things off.

To return to the spirit of the challenge (without bending the rules yet again) and to ceebrate the 1 year anniversary of the comm, I am going to offer some rewards for everyone who manages to post something.

This can include, but is not limited to:
  • Daily challenge: Posting something for today's prompt.
  • Monthly challenge: Posting something for each prompt of a month, amounting to 30-31 works.
  • Yearly challenge: Posting one work for one prompt of each month, amounting to 12 works. This can go from Jan-Dec, or from Sep-Aug, however you like.

Here, only the Daily challenge has to be posted on the relevant day to count. Everything else can be posted upon completion.

What can I expect to get anyway? )

Is this something you would want? Do you have other ideas, suggestions or comments?

Hello lovelies!

If you love your social media, I've got the following news: 31_days is now tumblr and twitter!

[tumblr.com profile] 31days-dw and [twitter.com profile] 31days-dw

They're still in the experimental phase, but the idea is to post the prompt of the day and to share all (fan)works these generate. You can either submit them to the blog or tag your entries with #31daysDW, which I will be tracking manually (unless there are better ways to do this? I'm not a social media pro).

Here's to hoping we can make these work!

Sorry for the spam today.

Just wanted to let you know, that I'll drop the 24-hour posting restriction. Which means, you can now post whenever you want. Yes, that even goes for past challenges.

I'm still undecided on the matter of whether or not this will become a mirror community. Not next month, that's for sure. You can also suggest some prompts here. One, or a dozen, or a whole month, I'm grateful for any of them! :D

So, post away, my dears! The floodgates are open.

Hello darlings!

I have some questions for you:

a) Do you want this community to be a mirror community of LiveJournal's [livejournal.com profile] 31_days? This would mean that I will no longer post new prompts, but that I would copy those from livejournal.

b) Do you want to lift the restriction on the 24-hour posting rule? That would mean you could post your fanwork you've created for the 13th of the month of the 23rd, for example.

All input welcome! :D

Hosts for the following months

none

You can also suggest prompts without signing up to do a whole month. Those prompts will be collected for pinch hits. Prompt suggestions will remain screened.

Hello, stranger. Welcome!

What is [community profile] 31_days? It's basically a spin-off of the LiveJournal community [livejournal.com profile] 31_days. It, too, is a multi-fandom day-by-day writing challenge. Every month, a set of prompts will be posted with one prompt for each day.

If you're already familiar with the concept, great! It would be a delight to see you participate.

If you're not familiar, here are the rules. They're quite simple.

Rules

1. Create a fanwork (fanfiction, fanart, podfic, graphics...) for a prompt and post it whenever you're done.

2. There are no sign-ups. Feel free to choose any fandom and any character or pairing you want.

3. Feel free to choose whichever prompt to write for, as they inspire you.

4. Any rating is allowed. Please label your fics with the appropriate warnings.

5. When submitting fanworks to AO3, please make sure they go into the right collection (the year in which the prompt was posted).

Posting Format

Subject line of your entry: [Date] [Series] Fic Title

On the entry itself:

Tag your entries with creator: [your name], fandom: [fandom name], month: [current] and year: [current]

Please post all fics under lj-cut or use a fake cut.

Happy writing.

Since we've finally come to the end of the year, and therefore the last of our 2010 theme-makers, I'd like to ask if any of you are interested in making the themes for 2011? Themes are to posted on the 25th of the preceding month, and will be posted in the community profiles (with proper credit, of course!).

And... I am not really sure, but is there a way, do you think, that we can advertise the community more to others?

Hello! This is your friendly neighborhood mod here. I know we don't make mod posts very often in this comm but I wanted to address something I've been pondering for awhile.

One of [livejournal.com profile] 31_days's quirks is its 24-hour deadline. However, I know that what happens a lot is that people go on vacations, or think two days later 'augh, that would have been perfect', or even just plain miss the date.

So what I'm considering is an "Amnesty Day" on the last day of every month where, in addition to writing for that day's theme, you can post pieces written for any other prompt during the month. I think this is a fun idea that would encourage creativity and liven things up a little. However, I know that the road goes both ways; some people say that the 24-hour deadline keeps them from procrastinating, and the immediacy of 'move it or lose it' really gets their creative juices flowing.

Since this is a democratic comm, and its result ultimately affects you guys most, here's a little poll. If you have any questions as to how Amnesty Day would be conducted, please comment to this post!
