The spiders scuttle through the market. They leave their webs on the walls and their marks on the people around them. Everyone smiles so happily and prattles sweetly, but in the end their voices are broken records and their words are learned by heart and meaningless.
Makubex admitted, later, that he might have made an error in not noticing their presence. A small error. But everything was so well organised when they were there; so neat, so tidy, so thoroughly controlled. So quiet and peaceful.
Of course, the fact that Ginji got hurt makes everything quite different. But otherwise, really . . .
