[5-Mar-2007] [Hellsing] Purity
Day/Theme: March 5. I am nothing, you are wind and devil and God
Series: Hellsing
Characters: Major & Rip
Rating: G
She doesn’t belong.
That’s what she thinks when she first lays eyes on them. Major, sitting placidly at the table, Captain, still and perfectly confident in his role as a guardian. And then there’s Doc, fretting and loudly and twitchy, and yet he seems to blend into the scene far better than Rip can. She stands, feeling small, as Major eats his dinner and his loyal servants accompany him.
It seems, while there are plenty of people around him, Major’s eyes immediately seek her out, and Rip tries not to notice. She straightens her back, and stares at nothing, and tries to be invisible. And it seems like the more she tries, the more obvious she becomes, and the more his blue eyes follow her, and the more she feels like an insect.
It isn’t as if she hasn’t spoken to him before, because she has and he even gave her the name she used now. He called her a sleeping dreamer, or something akin to that, but she can’t clearly remember through the haze of excitement and keenness that settles in her veins when she’s in his presence.
Power. She feels such a power, like he’s giving it to her, yet she cannot use it. The vampiric senses of hers heightens in his very presence, bringing her to a new reality. White, clean, something that smells like purity, but it’s such an intricate lie. It tastes so good, so ripe and she finds herself unconsciously licking her lips, tasting something that isn’t there. Major smiles, and she pretends not to notice that too.
‘Fraulein,’ he speaks suddenly, and she’s the only woman in the room to answer. She starts, standing at attention, and she knows if she were still living her cheeks would turn red. He smiles again, pale eyes never leaving hers. ‘Sing for me.’
And she sings, to the God that named her, of his dreams of war, the eternity of bloodshed and tears they’re faced with. And the others listen, listen with their ears and nothing more, but she’s certain Major hears her heart.
