How can the water be so dark and still shine?

He is holding the knife, knowing why he really took it from Angela, but he drops it in a moment of cowardice, listens to the voices.

Mary is dead, and he can hear those little sounds she made as he killed her, just the way she sounded when they made love, and he wants to die rather than admit that he did this, wants to end it all just as he should have before he let his crime drive him to Silent Hill.

"You might not be going where Mary is James."

"Maybe she hated you."

"You also said you wanted to live..."

Mary isn't in the water, it's probably just hell there too, but he finally decides that anything is better than pretending he didn't do this anymore. Than knowing she still loved him, somehow.

He starts the car, and as it's moving, he thinks of her face.
