[February 13] [Ah! My Goddess] Somewhere Nice

Ragnarök made me think of the cosmic computer in Ah! My Goddess, and "the end of days" made me think of the end of Keiichi's days and his conversation with Skuld about the relative lifespans of humans and goddesses.

Knowing that everything comes to an end doesn't always help when it happens, and when it is your own life. But Belldandy was there watching over him, just as she had always promised.

She looked as beautiful as the day they had met, and she always pretended that he did too. Though really someone like Belldandy didn't have to pretend that wrinkles and age spots didn't matter to her.

Keiichi managed to open his eyes to look at her, sitting by his bedside looking concerned and maybe even a little sad.

"Bell?" he asked. "What happens to you now? When I'm gone?"

"Oh, you don't need to worry about that!" she said brightly.

He shook his head. "It's not that I'm being selfish. We had so long together, didn't we? But I want you to be happy, even when Ragnarök sends you to someone else."

She just laughed. "Someone else? It's not a rent-a-goddess service. Not everyone gets their own."

"I know, I didn't deserve you either..."

"Shh..."

"But... will you miss me?" he asked.

"Of course I will! I'll think of you all the time."

"But don't be sad, all right?"

She just smiled. He felt so tired, and he needed to close his eyes.

"And I'll be thinking of you, wherever I am," he said. "You're not supposed to tell, are you?"

"Not exactly. But Keiichi... it's somewhere nice."
