They had not expected it. They had not seen it coming. They had been content in their conquests, in their expansions, in all their inexorable plans.
Above, the Hand of Omega clenched on the sun. Machine code described the sudden flare of whiteness in a chorused burst of equations from a million minds at once.
The Bringer of Darkness, the Daleks resolved, and screamed in fury, and were still screaming as above them the sun shattered like a falling rose and their world was gone like a wish, like a blown out candle.
