Ranma was having a relatively good day, meaning that no one had tried to kill him yet, when he saw the glint of gold out of the corner of his eye. He grabbed for it, and was a little disappointed to see it was just an apple... well, an apple-shaped piece of Styrofoam covered with gold glitter. Writing on the side read "To the most beautiful."

It was probably a kid's art project or a prop for a play, and he was about to throw it away when Shampoo rode up on her bicycle and dismounted.

"A present for Shampoo?" She reached for it. "For the most beautiful? Shampoo most beautiful!"

Ranma held it out of her reach, then remembered that it was totally worthless anyway.

"I guess you might as well have it."

That was when Ukyou walked up. "What are you holding?" she asked him with a stern look. "It says, for the most beautiful. Give it here then; I'm your real fiancée."

Shampoo disagreed. "It for Shampoo!"

Ranma could tell right then that this was not going to end well.

"It's a piece of worthless junk that I was going to throw away!" he yelled, but no one listened.

"Oh sure, you're the most beautiful," Ukyou drawled sarcastically to Shampoo.

"Pig!"

Ranma cringed and tried to run as Shampoo jumped on Ukyou. But meanwhile Akane was behind him.

"Hey, what's that?" she asked. "For the most beautiful?"

"Well, that's definitely not you," he said without thinking.

Akane's eyes were blazing, and Ranma was certain she would have sent him flying over a telephone wire if Shampoo hadn't just then tried to push her out of the way to get the apple.

He couldn't simply abandon Akane to her fate... or was it Shampoo he'd be abandoning? And Ukyo had the spatula ready for someone. Ranma was beginning to realize he would never have a good day again when he saw that Akane was carrying a bottle of drinking water. Putting the apple in his pocket, he snatched the bottle and poured the contents over his head.

Standing before them as a shapely female, Ranma grinned. "Sorry. I'm keeping it."
