Day/Theme: Feb 4/before the world was created

The end of the world didn't change anything, not really. It was probably too much to hope for that it would.
Well, in a sense it changed everything. There was nobody shooting at him any more, nobody telling him to shoot at other people, and that was good. There was nobody paying him either, but that was all right. He was strong, good with his hands, and even in bad times like these there was always some work – if nothing else, the Empire was full of broken things that you could find, and sometimes fix.
On the inside, though, Randel didn't change. He had the same thoughts during the day, the same nightmares at night; he walked the roads of the Empire at a steady plodding pace, never headed anywhere because he still had no one to meet, never stopping for long in any place because he still couldn't trust the ground not to move under him.
It wasn't until three years later that Randel himself was found, and fixed. Not completely, not so you couldn't see the breaks, but the bits in between were polished brighter than they'd ever been before. And the world had ended, but now he thought maybe the changes were supposed to come when you started to build a new one.
