[February 1st][Pumpkin Scissors] What Everybody Knows
Title: What Everybody Knows
Day/Theme: February 1st/a beastly proposal
Series: Pumpkin Scissors
Character/Pairing: Oreld/Machs
Rating: G
Secrets are never that long-lived among the Pumpkin Scissors, but this one dies faster than most.
Randel is the one to find Machs, hiding in the equipment room and claiming he isn't. Randel nods and smiles and waits until Machs starts talking of his own accord, and he looks a bit surprised to hear his friend has love troubles but not at all when Machs starts mixing up pronouns.
One eventful hour later, Stekkin peeks in through that same door and sees Machs and Oreld hugging in a way that friends don't hug, leaning into each other with eyes closed. Stekkin shuts the door very quietly, and goes off to confide in Mercury.
That afternoon, Alice asks why no paperwork has been done while she was out, and figures out the real reason from the elaborate fake one that Oreld gives her. After all, there are precious few things in the world that Oreld would be this desperate to hide.
As for Hunks, he spends most of the day behind a newspaper. Papers hide a lot of secrets – such as amused smiles, stains of spit-out coffee, and the fact that their owners can lip-read. Though Hunks supposes he'll have to let that last slip at some point, before his subordinates have any more intimate conversations in the office.
