Kira shuddered, and sobbed into his own cup of wine. "He just left me behind. Serve him right if I didn't try. Serve him right if . . ."

Matsumoto refilled both their cups. "Look, you can't just go after them."

"Course not," Hisagi said hastily.

Kira nodded blearily.

"Not without tracking tags and a rope round your waists to haul you back again kicking and screaming."

"Oh."

"Right."

"Yeah."
