[Jan 14] [Gundam X] Last Rose

Roses disappeared one by one, though they left their scent in the Gundam Leopard's cockpit. Roybea breathed it in and smiled to himself. One less rose meant one less visit, but each one was worth it and there was a silent promise renewed upon each departure (excluding one or two). A promise of another year and another rose. He mentally ticked names off a list. There would be about a dozen left in the bucket, which he counted.
Eleven of red. He raised his eyes to the single yellow rose fastened above the main screen. The last visit, and the most special.
Eleven roses and visits later, he held the yellow rose in one hand and a bottle of wine in the other. The sun was bright in a clear blue sky and the air was as fresh as it had been in the past fifteen years. The cemetery was tidy, with even rows of gravestones and plain crosses, the grass neatly cut.
Roybea smiled wistfully at the gravestone before him, reading the name and date. He couldn't remember where he had been that day. He set down the rose then uncorked the bottle, pouring its contents over the stone.
There was no one else he had wanted to share it with more.
