Many places that were once important to me are only memories now. The place I grew up in, the battle friends I’ve known, the camps I’ve called home. None of those places exist now, not as I remember them anyway, but I’ll always hold them in my mind.
The bed in your room where I held you close and trusted you and you trusted me back and we made love for the first time, the first time for both of us. That bed is gone now, and so are you, driven away by my job and it’s probably for the best, but that bed is a place I’ll always remember, just like your arms.
