"I knew not what I held in you until it was too late. I'm sorry Amri for destroying your beautiful life. Please never forgive me - my heart, my love, my soul, my breath. I simply exist without you and for that, I will always regret"
Bran's words drifted into the heated air, lost in the noise. He knew she would not hear his apology. She probably would not have even granted him her company if she knew it was he. His tears continue to fall as he watches Amri keep balance with the use of her tiger. He knew Finola well and trusted her to keep her mistress safe.
After wiping the tears from his face with his sleeve, Bran returns the hood upon his long white hair and begins to walk aimlessly throughout Ironforge. Finding himself in front of the small lake in the shadier part of town, he stands and watches the water flow in and out of it’s unknown source. He smiles at the memory her words sparked in his mind. He begins speaking to her in his mind, still captivated by her beauty tonight, even more so than when he first saw her across the Stormwind park so very long ago.
I remember that day clearly. I was coming to speak to the mage you were trying to cut down with words. He was so small looking, sitting there calmly hearing your words and watching you move as you shook your head and then later your fist in anger. I stood at a distance watching the interaction of you and he before I made my presence known. I was nervous to meet you. I have heard of you whispered through out the guildhalls. You were one of my lover’s sisters of her heart.
She spoke so highly of you. How independent you are. How talented you were with a dagger – the same dagger I saw you idly play with while speaking to my companion. You always seemed so much smaller physically than your force of life showed. Even watching you for the first time, I sensed how things were not how they appeared when it came to you my love.
Finally the two of you noticed me. I smiled and you looked stunned. I thought perhaps I had offended you with my presence. Perhaps I did. I overheard you telling my friend it could never be between you and he. I, at the time, was a lover with a human. I had heard it whispered you never even looked at any other except elves. Did it make me a lesser kin because I did? I know now you felt the same chemistry Elune had sent me to feel with you.
Bran laughs at the image his mind conjures up next.
Your top lip curled ever so slightly, I almost did not notice. Your hair was so messy – did you ever look in the water’s reflections? I felt so tempted to just lay a hand on it, to smooth it, to feel it, to be closer to you. I was curious to your conversation but neither one of you talked about it in front of me. Our mutual friend introduced me to you formally and I saw the same lip curl. You did think lesser of me! Oh how I wanted to kiss you even then to take that sarcastic lip curl right off your face. You still had your hunting leathers on and the moon shone down on your body throwing shadows, teasing me with desire to see all those hidden places. Your beauty captivated me that night…it was later when your mind stole my heart.
Bran shakes his head sadly. He says aloud to the silent lake. “I was a fool to leave you, Amri Ny’mia. I cannot forget you and I cannot let go of you so easily. I do not want forgiveness until I have earned your love, your respect, and your trust again. I do not have a life without you. My heart beats without feeling. I know now I have to accept you for who you are and it is I that has to change some of my ways rather than forcing you to change some of yours. I am a fool to hurt an all ready hurting lady.”
He looks towards the door that leads to the great forge in the center of the city. He wonders briefly if she is staying in Ironforge now. If she has changed so much that she has forgotten the love of the hunt.
Fate brought us together in love once, another time in anger, and finally another time in ignorance. I have to believe that Elune will bind us forever in love as She intended to. The male elf thought before he continued on strolling towards the source of the heat and noise that makes city well deserved of the name Ironforge.
