Hao walks through the darkened plain, his cloak shifting minutely with his every movement. The air is still. Here he can smell the decay from the bodies on the ground, mixed with the acrid smoke produced from inferior fires. Then again, there are few forces that rival the Spirit of Fire.

As he had always expected, he is where he wanted. The world is safe from the rapaciousness of ordinary humans, for there are no longer any humans. Only those needful, those worthy, and those loyal, remain.

Far off, he sees stars twinkling. He walks on to claim his victory.
