[Nov. 25, 2006][FFVI] Dawn Always Comes
Title: Dawn Always Comes
Day/Theme: Nov. 25, 2006 electric blue
Series: Final Fantasy VI
Character/Pairing: Cyan, Sabin, Shadow
Rating: PG
Cyan Garamonde was a man without attachments. He had lost king, castle, and family. And without these things he had also lost his fear. Sabin found it a little disconcerting to watch him slash his sword and strike down Imperials, his face cold as stone, not betraying a sliver of remorse. The metal shone and as he swung the blade, his ponytail flew in an identical arc, the ribbon streaming out behind it. Sabin dropped his fists and simply stared as the knight tore through their opponents. Shadow followed suit, standing at the pugilist’s side. Cyan struck sharp and quick like lightning.
He had a heart left under the steel façade, Sabin was sure of it, but sorrow had overcome the kindly man, leaving behind this flash of armor and frowning brow. Cyan sheathed his sword silently and wiped sweat from his brow with the back of one gauntleted hand. He turned away and stared off into the sunset while Sabin looked on.
“Dawn always comes,” the knight said.
“What was that?” Sabin asked. He might not have heard right. It seemed like a strange thing to say all of the sudden during a break from the battle. The blond man looked toward Shadow, raising an eyebrow curiously. The ninja provided no insight into the statement.
Cyan did not turn around. He crossed his arms and stared at the gently rolling hills ahead of them. Doma Castle lay behind. There was no turning back time, and even if he wished this would be his final night the dawn would come. It didn’t matter whether he wanted it or not. The next day would arrive and bring with it its own opportunities- even if they were only chances to kill more Imperial soldiers.
Sabin stepped up beside Cyan and gazed into the muscular man’s dark eyes. He was so serious and looked so far away. Behind him stood Shadow. The king’s brother shuddered. What unpleasant company!
