[Nov. 23, 2005][Suikoden] Apple for Pinkness and Garlic for Charm
Title: Apple for Pinkness and Garlic for Charm
Day/Theme: Nov. 23, 2006 o love, be fed with apples while you may
Series: Suikoden III
Character/Pairing: Estella, Melville, Alanis, and Elliot
Rating: G
"In my home country, I was a queen," Estella told the children assembled around her. "I lived in a marble palace and ate only the finest red apples, which is what made my hair so pink."
Elliot and Alanis gazed at the lying magician in awe. Melville turned up his nose. He was more skeptical of the red and blackk clad woman's bizarre stories. "So eating too many apples will change anyone's hair to pink?" queried Alanis, "Even mine?"
"Indeed," Estella nodded.
"I thought I heard my dad say that your hair is dyed!" exclaimed Melville. He eyed the talkative woman suspiciously. "And I don't see who else Gordon could be stocking "Cotton Candy Pink #2" dye for!"
"It's a dye for fabric, not hair," Estella attempted to correct the boy, "Augustine uses it to color his handkerchiefs when their color fades from so many washings."
Melville tightened his fingers into fists. This frustrating woman always found some way to slip through the cracks and twist any truth into a lie (or at least into an awkward half truth).
"Yesterday I saw Rody eating a basketful of garlic," Elliot began, "I could smell it all the way across the courtyard. He said you told him to eat it all to strengthen his ability to charm the enemy."
"I would've thought garlic breath would do the opposite of charm anyone," Alanis giggled.
"Well monsters are different from you and I," Estella explained, "They're attracted to many scents any human would find absolutely naseating. Garlic will draw them like flies."
Melville, arms akimbo, challenged her again, "Are you sure that you just don't like to see poor Rody making a fool of himself? I remember when he was buried in sand up to his neck and when he slept on a sack filled with pickles! I can't believe how he puts up with such a terrible teacher!"
Estella batted her thick eyelashes slowly and did not flinch. "Rody is fortunate to have me as a teacher. Who else could improve his skills with techniques so arcane that no others have ever heard of them?"
Melville's jaw dropped. He just could not believe this. There was no way to beat this terrible woman. He shook his head in disbelief and tried to pull himself together as Alanis turned to Elliot and asked, "Do you think I would look good with pink hair?"
