[Nov. 16][ABOFAL] Question

Title: Question
Day/Theme: November 16. he wishes for the cloths of heaven
Series: A Bit Of Fry And Laurie
Character/Pairing: Tony Murchison
Rating: G
Notes: I'm not entirely happy with this. It's too distant, emotions-wise, I think, and rough. Oh well. I'm making up history for Tony again.

'Right. I've got to think of something that isn't true. Oh yes, I know. My name is Susan Donovan.'

Tony had never met Susan Donovan, although he had met her half-cousin, once in a grocery store.

Q: Why did he pick her name when he picked a lie?

A: Her name haunted him. The first case he had ever had as an MI6 agent had been an investigation into the murder of a goverment offical in a small town just east of Berlin. That offical was not Susan Donovan, but her secretary was.

Tony had been a secondary agent, merely responsible for Susan's safety as he removed her from Soviety territory. It was an easy job, but Tony was nervous about it long after the mission was over. He had not met her directly, but had arranged the field agent's movements, and had put together a false history for her. Paperwork, but essential paperwork.

Three months after the completion of that mission, Tony opened the newspapers one morning and was greeted by an article annoucing her death; murder, actually.

She had been shot, and a suspect never was apprehended.

Tony still felt guilty about that.
