[Nov. 9, 2006][Suikoden] The Bride's Pearls

Title: The Bride's Pearls
Day/Theme: Nov. 9, 2006 scattered pearls
Series: Suikoden
Character/Pairing: Hix x Tengaar
Rating: PG-13

Hix reached out gingerly, trying to help Tengaar with the pearl necklace tangled in her long, thick hair, which had been worn loose on this special day, topped by a wreath of pink and white daisies and a trailing gossamer veil. Tengaar's red hair was always fairly wild, but that evening it seemed to have snared the necklace entirely. At first the young woman had patiently worked to unwind her hair from the pearls one lock at a time, but frustration had taken over and she fussed with it furiously as Hix attempted to aid his bride.

At last he thought he was making some progress, having unwound one long segment of lush hair from around the clasp of the necklace. He unhooked the clasp and tugged at the piece of imported jewelry and to his great surprise the cord snapped. Pearls jumped and scattered across the room. He looked nervously into his beloved's eyes and then turned to get on the floor and pick up all the shining orbs.

"Don't," Tengaar stopped Hix before he could even start the tedious task. She leaned towards him, white dress crinkling and folding into cloudy billows, and kissed her new husband. Happy to be relieved of the job, at least for now, he wrapped his arms around her and kissed her back.

They sat on the bed for some time just like that, holding onto each other silently, savoring the moment. Through the drapes the dark of night was reaching, with a pale moon as its decoration, ready to add to the mystery of a dim room to their experience. Tengaar felt as though she had waited far too long for this day to come. Hix was pretty sure he was finally prepared for it (well, he hoped he was).

She unhooked the clasps on his dark blue jacket and he shrugged it off his shoulders while she kicked off her shoes. He laid aside the sword that carried her name and she unfastened the pale yellow sash of her layered, white wedding dress.
Their union was deepened as the night wore on and the stars appeared among the drifting gray clouds. The festivities of the day had been long and the energy they spent that night ensured that both would sleep late the following morning.
