[Nov. 8, 2006][Original] A Real Southern Tiger

Title: A Real Southern Tiger
Day/Theme: Nov. 8, 2006 the hardcore and the gentle
Series: Original (related to my tales of the continent)
Character/Pairing: Anabel, Gahn, Sanzza, Hazama
Rating: PG-13

"You don't need to be gentle with me!" Anabel yelled fiercely at General Tolmaire and Admiral Minamoto. The Rihakan military veterans were taken aback by the young woman's firmness. Her face was slightly flushed with anger. These Rihakans did not understand. They were too old to fully realize that her age did not keep her from experiencing the horros as they did. And as Rihakans they did not know what she had seen and known as heir to the Kingdom of Eastirrim: the gruesome poisoning of her father and the secret beheadings of his advisors in a lower level of the fortress under General Jansuen. Even at that age they could not have made a puppet out of her. Her spirit was too strong. If Hazama had not spirited her away into hiding, it was likely that she too would have been murdered.

"Well, if that's the way you feel," Gahn Tolmaire growled, clenching his fists. He was growing very tired of being outwitted and ordered around by this girl.

Admiral Minamoto was in better control of herself. She sighed, "Despite our victory at Mikado, we suffered tremendous casualties. We're just so close to our goal now that we must press onward. A few of your gliding followers were shot down and came crashing to the ground.

"It's a shame," the chestnut-haired girl agreed, "But we must do what needs to be done. There is always a price to pay."

Admiral Minamoto shook her head and sighed again as the dull light cast a faint gleam on her scale-like armor. Gahn's stern countenance soured even further as he thought of his former comrades who had chosen to remain in the Rihakan Imperial Army under the lords.

"Lady Anabel!" called Hazama, the tall and thin advistor to the Eastirrim heir, dressed in his usual long, tangerine orange tunic. "Lord Rimzan and Sir Kojiro have initiated discussion about the upcoming assualt on Chirin. You should join them, as should you, commanders!" he fussed anxiously.

"Yes, of course," Anabel assured the older man and waved him along to follow her, "And you come along too."

"That's a quick start on Chirin," Sanzza Minamoto observed thoughtfully, moving to follow the Eastirrim freedom fighters, "Even in light of the need to hurry before the Imperial Army can regroup."

Gahn shrugged, "Regent Crimsonshaft has never been a patient one. He can't much be faulted for wanting to rush to the finish line though." He paused, "That girl either," he added quickly, "She's gentle enough for her buddy, but she's a real southern tiger."

Author's note: Although I've never posted any here, I have written many short bits about the events on "the continent." I just wanted to mention this because I didn't go into details of the situation explained by other parts of the story that tell about the battle at Mikado, a fortress city, or Chirin, which is Rihaku's capital city. It's just a fragment demonstrating Anabel's interaction with Kojiro's generals.
