We think he has superiors. We think he answers to someone. (We think he used to be Russian, we think he was originally English.)

Trouble is, he never answers questions (read: We don’t see the men we send ever again) and all attempts to probe his background fail. He’s very polite about it all, of course, but dislikes having his peace disturbed. (Or pleasure or business hours or anytime at all.)

We have almost given up. Jack is unknowable.
