She was not well-versed in the ways of romantic love when they first met. And he, a gentleman, was in this matter her complete opposite. The love of family and friends had been her domain as long as she could recall. But the day he gave her his gentle, gloved hand she felt something and her heart beat with a rhythm it had never had before. So when they were sent to Matilda, she dreamed of him and crossed her fingers hoping they would met again. Not surprisingly, due to his prominent position as captain of the Red Knights, they did. For his sake, the pink-clad girl was all too glad to babysit his friend, a man with close-cropped hair and an overwhelming thirst for justice, charming in his own way.

When all were reunited, the look of thanks he gave her was more than a simple glance. Their eyes met and she was lost in that magnificent moment of feelings exchanged through the air. It ended as quickly as it had begun- he winked.

She knew now that she wanted it so badly. To tread the untrodden paths and sip the sweet nectar of romance. She only hoped the red-head would oblige. So in her own not particularly dainty way she asked. And without hesitation he agreed, although the words he used were much more polished.
He knew this tomboy was a lady too, and one who had enchanted him in a way he could not shake. He longed to touch her carnation petal lips and hold her tiny body close to his, sharing between them the perfumed atmosphere of romance.

They met at dusk beneath a maple tree and their awkward silence did not last long for they embraced. Her cheek pressed against his chest as she stood on tiptoe, lifted by his powerful grasp.

"Nanami," he whispered and his voice sang with passion.

"Camus," she murmured, and a tremor of inexperience shook her voice. She lifted her youthful face, the pink of cheeks accentuated by the rosy glow of the nearly vanished sun. Her innocence made her all the sweeter as she pursed her lips and narrowed her sparkling eyes expectantly. He kissed her and they were in bliss. Two lovers silhouetted by the last fading beams of sunlight savoring the moment the day became the night.
