(October 31) (Runaways) Tears for Friends
Title: Tears for Friends
Day/Theme: October 31. what goes bump in the night

Warning: Possible Spoilers for Runaways, volume 2 post issue 18
Halloween, formerly one of Chase's favourite holidays. Now he didn't know what to make of it especially as he lay in bed thinking. The world had gone to hell in a bottle and he'd helped whether he wanted to or not. Everything that had happened weighed down on him and more than ever he found himself missing Gert. Suddenly he heard a loud bang from Gert's room. Jumping to his feet he bolted in to her room angry at whoever had been disturbing it. He could hear someone crying, slowly he opened the door nervously, “Hello?” he called.
“Chase?” The voice was that of the youngest member of the team.
“Molly, what are you doing here?” The twelve year-old was dressed in an oversized Superman t-shirt with a pair of pink polka dot boxer shorts, and Gert’s glasses. “Are you ok?”
“I…miss her” Molly choked out through her tears.
“I do too, we’re all feeling the same way.”
“No Chase, we’re NOT! I mean you have Old Lace and I have…” she trailed off as her voice cracked.
“Who?”
“Just forget it, I guess I just miss my family despite everything that happened.”
“Molly, we’re your family now and if you ever need any help don’t hesitate to come to me, or any of us.”
“I know but it’s just you all have your own grieving to do before I can pile mine on top.” Not for the first time Chase marvelled at the intelligence and maturity of the girl in front of him, she seemed wise beyond her years.
“Do you come here often?”
“Almost every night, sometimes I sleep in here.”
Chase smiled, “Are you planning on staying tonight?”
“Maybe, If I’m not alone…” she looked at him sadly.
“Ok, squirt…you win…”
