[August 10] [Fullmetal Alchemist] Unshakeable
Title: Unshakeable
Day/Theme: August 10 - way of difference
Series: FMA
Character/Pairing: Maes Hughes, Roy Mustang

He ran his thumbs along the edges of the picture, smoothing out a dog ear on one corner. The wood paneling off the bar was warm underneath his elbows and he wondered how long they had been sitting there, after conversation had exhausted itself. Roy was steadily downing another glass, the amber liquid the same color as the walls in the dim light.
He looked down at Elysia’s smiling face, at the butterfly she was stretching to reach.
Roy swallowed and closed his eyes, setting the glass down with a clink of ice cubes.
They sat a foot apart in a busy room. Their friendship was spaces and closeness, bar stools and sand in your eyes, and absolute trust.
He sighed and slid his arms fro m the bar, shoved to his feet, resisting the urge to reach out and shake Roy by the shoulders, because he knew… He knew.
