Haruhi was holding up two pieces of cardboard to the club-room window.
Kyon walked up. "Can you see the eclipse with your pinhole viewer, Haruhi?"
"Yeah," Haruhi said, "but all I can see is a little crescent on this cardboard. I wish I had some smoked glass."
"Still," Kyon said, "it isn't every day that you get to see an eclipse... Miss Nagato, have you seen the eclipse?"
Yuki closed her book, and walked up to the window— and, forgetting that she was supposed to be human, she looked directly at the sun with her alien eyes.
Kyon and Haruhi sweat-dropped. "Uh... you really shouldn't look directly at the sun?" Kyon said weakly.
"I see," Yuki said. She walked back to her reading corner, picked up her book, and continued to read, with apparently unharmed eyes.
Kyon and Haruhi silently looked at each other.
Haruhi suddenly threw down her cardboard pinhole viewer and turned to the window. Kyon clapped his hands over her eyes, just barely in time.
"GET OFF!!" Haruhi shouted. "If SHE can do it, so can I!!"
Kyon struggled valiantly to keep his hands over Haruhi's face. "Miss Nagato must have, uh, special contact lenses, or something!!"
