“You are so beautiful,” the boy says to the girl one day, his voice deepening, cracking, trembling in all shades of loveliness.
His friends call him crazy; girls aren’t to be loved, they’re things to tease and flirt with, and, when you get down to it, to fuck. It’s madness that’s taken over his brain, they sneer; it’s insanity, he’s been corrupted by all those fluffy pink hearts and kindness-grams, chocolate candies and scented letters.
The boy doesn’t care if it is insanity—but if it is, he’s not been corrupted. He’s infested by the purest form of insanity, something that grips him hard each time he sees her, something that calls him to worship at her altar, and it goes by the name of "love."
