Yuki watched the rays of the sun dip below the horizon and let dark creep into Shigure’s house. It was a familiar custom to him, one that he found soothing, to have the few minutes to sit and watch the sunset. He wasn’t so keen on sunrise, because it signified the start of a changing day, while sunset had everything behind it and was settling into a time of stillness, sameness.
He thought it had to do when he was younger, when Akito had locked him away in that hellhole. For whenever there was light that meant Akito was coming, but dark meant he was safe for another increment of time.
That had changed, when Rin and Haru had begun to visit him in his private hell. Then he watched the light form his corner with bated breath, would it be good or bad? Even years after he’s free of that room, darkness is his security blanket, and light stirs up vaguely apprehensive feelings.
