It's a clear night, with a cloudless sky and barely a sliver of moon. The rabbit doll lolls on the table, propped against the computer, among the discarded coffee mugs and empty cigarette packets.
There is no sound in the laboratory apart from the quiet whirr of fans, the regular drip of fluid tanks, the buzz of flickering screens --
-- in other words, not quiet at all.
The only occupant is an untidy man in a battered lab coat. His nails are dirty and he is unshaven. He drapes himself over a chair, lazily unkempt, as if waiting for a visitor.
