[September 23] [Naruto] What Kind of Fool
Title: What Kind of Fool
Day/Theme: September 23. shed blood becomes a sea.
Series: Naruto
Character/Pairing: Naruto
Rating: PG
Naruto had gotten a glimpse of Sasuke’s soul (tainted with blood, and there was a echo of Itachi, who Naruto wanted to kill more than anyone, more than Haku in that moment Sasuke had died for him) when they’d fought.
If he had been anyone else, he would have given up. Or, at least, taken a step back and think over the words Jiraiya had given him. After all, what kind of fool would save someone who has no desire to be saved; who desperately doesn’t want to be saved?
Instead, he pushes forward, pushes faster, pushes harder, pushes as deeply as he can go into Sasuke’s broken and bloody soul, determined to fix it, no matter the cost to himself, because if he can’t save Sasuke’s soul, he can save no one’s.
Because it’s not blood that Sasuke shed, but that he has to avenge. And Naruto thinks he understands, because that need to avenge that eats Sasuke alive is the same feeling he has whenever he looks at Sakura (he’ll save Sasuke for her, and he’ll kill Itachi for him, no matter the price.)
