A man was stumbling along the dark street as Sasuke was about to close the window of his bedroom. It was the owner of a store on another block, the sort who relished in speaking sharply to his wife and young son when they were slow in tending to the customers. Sasuke watched the man as he lurched forward and straightened up with an effort; even his head looked unsteady sitting atop his neck.

A blow on the right spot and with the precise amount of strength would paralyze him, Sasuke decided. While the blow might not be mortal, the man would not be able to mind his store - or perhaps his bowels into the bargain - ever again. Then his wife and son would be free of him. They could run the store freely, or they could drop something into his food, whichever was convenient. A weak family member was a useless family member. Satisfied, Sasuke peered down, but the man had vanished around the bend.

He clicked the latch shut. His pleasure at his own calculation and sense of detachment was almost vicious.
