[Aug. 24, 2006][original] Sir Seif Kelyano and General Jiiru Pohscratt
Title: Sir Seif Kelyano and General Jiiru Pohscratt
Day/Theme: Aug. 24, 2006 "So keep your silence and know: This man, unless slain, is fated to die."
Series: original
Character/Pairing: Seif, Jiiru Pohscratt , Tetsu
Rating: PG-13
Continuing from "Wound and Resolve" (Aug. 10, 2006)
Seif and Jiiru clashed with the force of typhoon-tossed debris. The Messinan's arms shook as he kept his blade pressed to his opponent's knives. Both the great strain and a fear of the power he had found within himself caused the tremor.
Seif found himself pulled close the Ligaian warrior by a jerk of Jiiru's jagged blades. Warm air blew into Seif's face. Jiiru's breathing was hard and heavy. "Nice of you to go down fighting, Sir...Kelyano, right? It wouldn't look so good if I had to take down a man who didn't even try to defend himself. Besides, this way is more fun."
"Fun?!" the Holy Knight spat back, enraged by the statement. Ran and Li had died for what this crazed man considered fun. It was a sickening thought. Every fiber of his being seemed to move in unison to simaltaneously push away and step back.
Jiiru staggered, and Seif did not waste a moment. His attack was swift and strong, striking through the cords that bound the blue shield to Jiiru's arm. It clattered to the ground, sliding away. Before the general had time to retrieve the enchanted item, Tetsu scurried forward and grabbed it. The dark-haired young man wrapped his arms around the cold metal and clutched it tightly to his chest as he dashed away to the safety of Leila and Ginjo's blades.
Pohscratt seemed unconcerned about the loss of his shield. He shook his arm as though he was relieved to have the strain of the weight taken off him. A thin trickle of blood ran down his gaunlet where Seif's blow had gone further than through the shield's leather cords. He smiled. "You're serious, Sir Kelyano."
"My name is Seif," the knight responded dully. He slid into position smoothly, feet spread shoulder's width apart, both hands clasped around the hilt of his sword.
"Seif..." Pohscratt repeated thoughtfully as he rose to his feet.
The sandy-haired man nodded and charged, sword swung back over his shoulder. The move left him vulnerable, but he felt it might be the only way to strike a strong enough blow to break through Pohscratt's defenses.
Jiiru dodged left of the blow, swung his longer knife, and struck Seif's right shoulder plate with a resounding clang. But Seif had been prepared for this. The downward strike had missed, but the upward return struck home, slicing through the laces of Jiiru's leather armor and into his tunic below. The Ligaian general's face contorted with pain.
