He was the piece of sky that would fall on her and ended it all; the waiting hurt, but she had the Magic Knights as her own personal deus ex machina. (Somehow this reassurance was not as comforting as it should have been)

She said prayers she now had a lot less belief in, listening to her world - the world - deliberately disintegrate and became her own heart. He was still out there, then. Like her, he was waiting; unlike her, he was impossibly distant.

Soon, she said. Very soon.

The wind, which had been picking up for the last several minutes, was growing into a full-blown gale. She strained to hear a reply, but there was none.
