"Cambrian, I have no argument with you!" Jiiru Pohscratt shouted haughtily as Sir Rowan advanced upon him, sword ready.

"Oh, don't you?" the small knight scoffed. "Just because I'm Cambrian means I have no reason to be in conflict with Ligaia?" Rowan sniffed disdainfully, "If we Cambrians shared a border with you we'd be breathing down your necks all day long, forever. And in Cambria, we aren't shackled by some elaborate religious laws- we'd retaliate against you with our full strength!"

Rowan raised his blade until it was parallel with his shoulders. Gripping the hilt in both hands he rushed Jiiru, slashing downward. Jiiru caught the lower edge of the blade upon his shorter knife and forced it back, locking the two warriors into a temporary stalemate.

Seif knelt, trembling beside his fallen comrades. He watched mutely as Rowan struggled to break the contact, then redoubled his efforts, pulling his smaller blade free with his left hand and using it to stab at the cracks in Jiiru's laced leather armor. Jiiru swung fiercly with both knives, but Rowan moved faster, skipping out of the reach of the Ligaian general's shorter weapons.

"You want to die here too?!" Jiiru shrieked angrily. Light crackled along his blue shield, highlighting the ensorcelled marks on its rim.

The brilliance of the blue and white metal temporarily blinded Seif, but he heard a skidding sound. When his eyes refocused on the battle before him, he saw that Rowan had slid backwards through a puddle of blood. Jiiru was lunging forward to strike a fatal blow.

A tiny ball of fire screeched across the room and into the back of the Ligaian commander, burning his dark cloak to cinders in an instant, but failing to produce any serious damage due to the magical properties of the armor the warrior wore. As Jiiru cursed his deep focus on the Cambrian knight for allowing him to lose awareness of his other foes, Sir Rowan took the chance to scramble away from the stone wall and the thickest spills of blood.

Seif looked over his shoulder to see the doorway filled by Kiralesca, Leila, and Tetsu- with Ginjo standing proudly in the lead. The swordsman-sorceror's arms were still raised in his spell-casting gesture, fingers spread wide. The red light of fire flickered in his bright eyes.

"More allies of Messina?" Jiiru said rather than asked.

Kiralesca, Leila, and Ginjo stepped cautiously around the room, keeping their backs to the wall, in an attempt to circle the perimeter for a stronger assault on Jiiru. Tetsu scurried to Seif's side and shook the knight's arm frantically, an open-mouthed frown quivering across his round face. Seif looked at his silent companion, but made no move to rise and join in the attack.

"One does not always fight for solely for oneself, Jiiru," Rowan grinned, glad to have some assistance at last. His visor shone and his white teeth gleamed, "One also fights for those they love, espousing their cause as one's own!"

As Jiiru scowled blackly at Rowan's words, Leila gave the appropriate hand signal. They charged.
