[Aug. 7, 2006][Original] Revealing a Vision
Title: Revealing a Vision
Day/Theme: Aug. 7, 2006 "You would think that she is walking upon eggs and green bottles."
Series: Original
Character/Pairing: Christine and Seif
Rating: PG
Christine walked through the halls so quickly that her slippered feet barely skimmed the ground. The vision had come to her in the depths of the night and already the details that had seemed so clear were fading away into the starry sky. At first she had thought it might be best to carry word of her premonition to the Holy Mother, but once she had begun to scurry off in that direction, a nervous feeling cast a shadow over her initial idea. Hurrying off in the opposite direction, Christine hastened to reach the man she wished to speak with, hoping that the seconds lost in her decision-making would not cost her the ability to remember the vital parts of the vision.
A cool breeze blew through the open windows of the second floor walkway. Christine's dark braid swung back and forth in a steady rhythm as she began to run. The images were slipping from her mind. She tried to keep her focus on them as she ran- a dark moon, snow over a ruined city, the clink of swords being loosened in their sheathes... More intent on the pictures in her mind than on her movements, Christine's small feet began to pound the pale blue tile, drumming a frantic beat as she turned left and nearly tripped down the stairs. She nearly slid into the door she wished to find, and catching herself awkwardly, rapped on it with the back of her hand.
There was no response. A more logical part of Christine's mind told her that the knight inside was most likely sound asleep and even if he heard her tapping it would take a few moments for him to realize what the sound was and to open the door, however, the irrational part of her took over and Christine turned her hand over, smashing her palm noisily against the wood.
"Wa? What? Christine?" Sir Seif gasped and sputtered as he opened his door and faced the pretty young woman. He rubbed his eyes sleepily and straightened the untied tunic he slept in.
"Sir Seif!" she exclaimed and pushed past the knight into his quarters. She pulled one cushioned chair away from a small table covered in parchments and sat down in it facing him.
"Lady Christine, what's wrong?" he asked, closing the door softly. He stretched his arms and tapped his barefeet on the cold floor in an attempt to wake up more fully.
"I saw a vision!" she exclaimed firmly.
This statement drew the Holy Knight's full attention. He whirled around to face her directly and gazed into her blue eyes. "A vision?!" His next thought was, "Why did you come to me then?" He did not voice this thought. It was irrelevant.
"Let me tell you so you can help me remember," Christine said seriously. She closed her eyes and started to describe the fragments of memory that came back to her. "Four men running through snow in a ruined city. Snow was still falling. The moon was dark- almost black. The men pulled their swords slowly in readiness for an attack. Then- then something I don't recall. And blood on the snow. Voices calling in a tongue I did not understand. Helmets on sticks. The voices was calling one word over and over. Then I heard your voice. Everything else was a blur, but your voice came so clearly to me..."
She opened her clear eyes. He was leaning down, looking intently at her.
"What did I say?" he asked quietly. Christine wondered if he was enchanted by her words. His focus seemed complete and absolute.
"You said...'Why did they attack us?'"
