Like a cricket in a porcelain ball, it sings on and on, a single sweet note that lets him keep on moving through the shadows. It cuts away the fluidity of Aizen's words, the taunts from Ichimaru, the stupidity of the Hollows. He can hear her voice in it, promising an end to bloodshed, a clarity of light.
Surely a blue sky is the same colour as that sound.
He promises one mercy, silently; if the mortal girl must die, she will have a proper soul burial.
