[Aug. 3, 2006][Original] Soaked by the Sea
Title: Soaked by the Sea
Day/Theme: Aug. 3, 2006 "This is the turbulent sea of your night seething, cross over"
Series: Original
Character/Pairing: Seif, Ran, Li, Rowan
Rating: PG
The inland sea had proved a fiercer obstacle than any of the knights had expected. Kiralesca had warned them of the storms that blew across its usually mild surface at this time of year, but a near-deadly combination of stubborness and ignorance had led the foolhardy men to take their boats and brave the choppy waves.
Kiralesca had been completely correct in her assessment of the water. Teeth chattering furiously, Ran, Li, Rowan, and Seif sat, dripping wet, around a tiny campfire. They had been drenched by waves sloshing over the sides of their two tiny vessels and, afraid of sinking, they had tied up along a small, rocky outcropping with a cave in its side. During the summer, fishermen made use of the spot, but now it was deserted, except for a tangled, abandoned fishing net far in the back of the shelter.
Their packs had proved only slightly more water resistant than their clothes. Li strung up a piece of cord and began to disrobe, hanging each piece of clothing he removed over the cord with hopes that eventualy they would drip dry.
"This would not be a convenient time to catch a cold," Ran observed as he pulled off his tunic.
Seif unlaced his gauntlets and tossed his cloak over the line.
In a few moments, the Messinan knights were stripped to their undergarments, huddled around the inadequate fire, and wrapped in damp blankets from their traveling packs. However, Rowan had barely removed his armor. His helmet still sat on his head, the visor casting a shadow over his down-turned face.
"You better get out of those wet clothes," Ran said straightforwardly.
Clearing frowning, Rowan removed his dark boots. When he turned them over, a large quantity of water poured out of them, forming a puddle by Rowan's glistening wet armor.
Seif hoped that Rowan would not have to deal with rust in the days to come. He was not entirely sure what sort of material the Cambrian knight's armor was made of.
Although he peeled off his outer, dark-toned tunic, that was where Rowan drew the line. He sat silently with his pants rolled up to his knees and his white undershirt practically sticking to him like a second skin.
"Is that as far as modesty will allow?" Seif inquired with a smile.
Rowan took off his helmet, revealing the relatively dry yellow bandanna tied over his hair. "No, that is as far as I go...You shameless fools," he added with a grin.
"Oh," Li retorted cheerfully, "You just wish you were as handsome as us!"
