Notes: Not particularly inspired, but it's my first Haruhi Suzumiya work. (As I write this, I only just finished watching the anime yesterday.)

The SOS Brigade had walked into town after school to "investigate" a fancy restaurant.

As the brigade members waited for a table, Yuki pulled Kyon to one side, and spoke privately with him. "Prepare yourself," Yuki whispered. "You will endure great hardship soon."

"Why?" Kyon asked. "Are we about to enter a 'closed space'? Or is the waitress another homicidal alien humanoid-interface?"

"No," Yuki said. "The food here is very expensive, and Haruhi will insist that you treat her."

Kyon glanced at Haruhi, saw her drooling over a steak menu, and resigned himself to a long night of washing dishes.
