Ukitake has a deep reiatsu, calm and soothing; he plays at flippancy, but there is a stability about him that Byakuya can lean against, can relax into. Even in the heated moments when they share a bed, naked flesh against naked flesh and long white hair tangling in his fingers, even then there is that resignation, that gentleness, that assured power which can say to him, Enough, be still.
Byakuya lies beside him, in the circle of his arms, and is at peace in that stillness, like pale blossoms scattered into darkness and falling, falling so very quietly into rest.
