Heights cast shadows. Babylon City may be beautiful, but the darkness that it throws across the lives below is a stain and a misery. People settle into their roles and become petrified in them; the emperor, the kings, the court, the enemy.
Even the lightning only makes the shadows deeper. It strikes, hard and furious, and they rear ever darker above.
Perhaps there is no answer to the riddle of what light casts no shadow. Whichever way the sun turns, whether it rises or sets, there will always be darkness.
Unless you throw down the tower and break the city.
