Life Change
*~*~*
In the days of Desolation Alley, before Millennion, before Bear Walken, before the Sweepers, Brandon knew only one way to fight. If he couldn’t put his hands on someone, his feet would be just fine. He was brutal, efficient and one tough son of a bitch to take down one-on-one in a fight.
His sense of loyalty brought about a life change. With one fateful decision, a whole new way of fighting came into being. And a whole new way of dying.
Guns became the great equalizer.
With it, came greater responsibility. Don’t draw your gun unless you’re willing to shoot; don’t shoot unless you’re willing to kill. Simple advice, all things considered.
Until the target was a friend. Worse than a best friend – a childhood friend.
Then it could become a failure of epic proportions.
Falling from the elevator, shards of glass raining down on and past him, Brandon realized his failure. Even though he couldn’t, he knew he should have pulled the trigger. His sense of loyalty changed his life again, with a bullet to his head.
After that, things were a blur of machines, monitors and half waking dreams. Dreams of what might have been, what could have been…what should have been. In those dreams, more fighting, more shooting, more killing. Rebuilding the past; reliving the future.
The guns remained the same, only bigger, faster, and deadlier. Just another way to fight.
And another way to die.
