[june 5] [mononoke hime] green in judgement
Title: Green in Judgement
Date/Theme: june 5 | a single soul dwelling in two bodies
Series: Mononoke Hime
Characters: San
Rating: G
When one is filled with conflict, often times they can be mistakenly defined by conflict.
San does realize this, just as she notices how Ashitaka glances at her, apprehension in his eyes, when he turns himself back towards the town. Saying goodbye is something she is used to now, a routine she dreads and despises but has learned to look past so she can see the future. But it seems that he has not yet become used to how contentedly she now accepts it.
One afternoon, she calls him on it, her voice as casual as all of the other times she’s disputed something. She says, “Ashitaka, I’m not going to explode. I think you forget that I am not like the women of that human tribe.”
The way he looks at her makes her uneasy for a moment. She wonders if she has said something wrong. Then she wonders if he would actually dare to argue her credibility as a wolf like he once did before. He doesn’t. Instead he smiles, like he's seeing something she doesn’t.
“I would never forget that. It’s what made me fall in love with you.”
San doesn’t think humans are so bad anymore, or at least that they do serve one purpose.
They are something to be superior to.
