Summary: Although set between "Glory in Death" and "Immortal in Death," this really could summarize most conversations between Eve and Roarke whenever Roarke decides to use the unregistered to help Eve out.

In a time when using unregistered equipment everyone in the world except for Roarke considered to be illegal was brand new to her, Eve Dallas stood in the middle of the bedroom she recently moved into with her now-fiancĂȘ, holding a sealed disc and glaring at said fiancĂ©.

"I can't use this," she sputtered. "We're going to get him the good old-fashioned way, that way we can actually can use it in a little thing called the justice system. I've come too far in this case to let this guy slip away."

"It's up to you how you utilize the information, Darling Eve," Roarke replied smoothly, selecting a shirt to wear for the day.

Because by meddling that Roarke actually saved her several days worth of work and probably got her several steps closer to her suspect, Eve slid the disc into her bag and made a mental note to get Feeney to track down as much of the same information as possible using legal channels.

"So, Ace, what am I suppose to tell Feeney?" she asked, locating her boots from where they had gotten flung across the room the night before.

"Be discreet," Roarke advised, then chuckled when she snorted at him.

"You mean lie."

"Darling, discretion is not the same as lying."

"For you, there's no difference."

He flashed a grin at her. "Why, thank you."

She glared at him. "It's not a complement."

"No. But that didn't stop you from taking the disc."

Eve didn't reply. She simply snarled at him, then stalked out of the bedroom.
