The brothel is dark inside, lit only by lamps that make the darkness more pronounced. But it is better that way. You don't see the face of whoever's paying you for your body and no one can blame you for screwing some noble man whose face you haven't seen.
The new girl is silent as her newest customer enters. She has been her for only a few months and has made more money in that time than some who have been here for years. He has never been here before, to the brothel, to the town, but makes his way directly to the new girl, pausing only to greet the madam.
He does not touch her, and she does not push for something more intimate. They never touch but the distance between them is smaller than any of the other patrons and their current bedmate.
They do not make love because it is already there.
