[May 12th] [Kingdom Hearts] Unlock My Heart
Title: Unlock My Heart
Day/Theme: May 12th - "Open, locks, to the human's hand"
Series: Kingdom Hearts
Characters: Sora, Leon, vague references to Rinoa
Rating: PG
There are spaces of silence where Leon wishes Sora would point that intricate key at him and rotate it until something opened inside his chest, some undefinable glimmering of a heart released. Leon thinks that's what it would take for the terrible tightness in his lungs to ease everytime his ragged band of survivors is put in danger, everytime another star blinks out.
The night is so very, very long now.
Filled with shadows, it comes alive with the downward swing of his gunblade and the flare of light as Sora calls fire from nothing. The Chosen One has grown, though, and the battle takes less than it should, over almost before it began in a gentle flurry of hearts. Leon turns, his eyes caught on the gold of the Keyblade, one hand rising above his ribcage absently.
Sora reads his mentor a little easier than most. "Someone else has the key for that," he says, with a soft, boyish smile, his fingers rising to his own chest. "I don't have a key for mine, either."
It's another silent moment and then Leon turns, slinging his weapon over his shoulder, an off-hand invitation. Sora hurries to catch up and they go back to where Aerith is waiting with hot tea and too much sugar.
Where the wings on Leon's back are red, not white, but it's okay. For now.
The End.
