[August 5] [Fullmetal Alchemist] The Young
Title: The Young
Day/Theme: 08-05-05/A boy
Series: Fullmetal Alchemist
Character/Pairing: Alphonse Elric
Rating: G
He is more than metal.
He smiles through his invisible lips, his eyes warm with compassion. He strokes the stray cats with his fingers, though the feeling of soft fur dissolves as soon as it reaches him. He swallows the food the innocent children offer him, his heart wrenching as the bread fills his empty stomach, never knowing the taste but the lingering truth.
He doesn’t know when, where, or how. He wonders if he will ever be able to gather what he left behind. But what he believes in is hope—something foolish, most would say, and that he’s in a sea of denial. Yet he firmly sits by his brother’s side while conversing with a blonde automail expert and her grandmother, somehow noticing the familiar smell of the household, and enjoying the walks in nature though he’s unable to take it all in; his will still stands like a boulder in the deep.
Now it’s a bright morning in the month of April as his hollow gaze rests on the sky. He continues to dream of tomorrow, of what it will bring. He wonders why he wants to fight, and even the mishap of Ed letting him keep a pet this time.
And he smiles, because he has a purpose in life—because inside the rigid armor, there is a boy named Alphonse.
