Finally, gaaaargh. It's only been forever since I've updated...and with an odd pairing/friendship, too =D

On the anniversary, Naruto liked to remember things.
Once, He’d decided to go watch clouds with the shadow nin, reveling in the warm breeze the sunny day provided. At first, he’d complained about how useless it was.
“Go with the flow,” Shikamaru had said in that lazy tone of his, one hand cushioning his head, the other lying beside him, immobile.
Naruto stared at it. “You won’t mind?”
The brunette shook his head, and he took his hand and threaded their fingers together.
“…you don’t mind…?” Usually, he was rude. In your face, uncouth…But that was with Sasuke, and Sasuke was not here, but he essentially was.
Not that Naruto minded.
“Where do we go when we die?” He spoke lazily, perhaps the mood seeping into him through their fingers.
“’It don’t go nowhere but damnation,’” He replied lazily, pulling a quote from a book that nobody had ever read.
Naruto had laughed, and he still laughed, reading the headstone for fallen nins.
