[9 April] [James Bond] Cats and Dogs
Title: Cats and Dogs
Day/Theme: April 9th - Hunting with cats
Series: James Bond
Character/Pairing: Bond, Tanner
Rating: G
"The problem with espionage is - well, it's like hunting with cats. Why do you think nobody hunts with cats?"
James Bond chewed on a toothpick. "Too smart?"
Bill Tanner grinned. "Too smart. Too wily. They won't share their kill with you, if they can help it."
"So we hunt with dogs."
"Exactly."
"And you're saying traditional soldiers are dogs?"
"In a manner of speaking."
"I beg to differ."
"Look, we all started out in the trenches."
"Metaphorically."
"My point is - look, who wasn't a bleeding idiot twenty years ago?"
"...well, all right."
"You hunt with dogs whenever you can. But when you need someone of intelligence -"
"- the cat's out of the bag."
"I've been meaning to speak to you about your intensely irritating puns, James."
"I thought it was rather clever."
"You would."
"I accept your basic premise, I think."
"Well, isn't that big of you."
"Yes, rather."
Bill Tanner raised his glass.
"To cats," he said.
"Sure," said Bond. "to cats and dogs."
