What could be more beautiful than Kaworu?
He had died happy - and of his own will, mind you -, fulfilled his purpose here on Earth, and then some. He had gotten an extra bonus:
Meeting Shinji (’I think I was born to meet you’), Saying ‘I love you’ (‘I‘m saying I love you’), and then making Shinji kill him (‘You are not an entity that should die.).
He wished he could hate him for it.
