[March 6] [The Hobbit] Thoughts before the Battle of Five Armies
Title: Thoughts before the Battle of Five Armies
Day/Theme: March 6: Shall hate counfound the wise? doubt blind the brave?
Series: The Hobbit
Characters: Thorin, Bilbo
Rating: PG
Thorin Oakenshield wasn’t a fool by any stretch, and he knew when he was behaving as one. Behind the heated feelings the treason raised on him, he could very well see it, and even more deep he desired to make peace with the Men of the Lake and the Elves of Mirkwood as much as he desired his treasure.
But the memory of the once only tolerated companion who had grown in his esteem to turn his back to him and the most prized of jewels he had stolen blurred everything else away. Two things dear to him equate to hate.
Bilbo Baggins wasn’t a hero even in his good moments, which weren’t many in the first place. Worst of all, he couldn’t stand up to his own actions. The idea of being despised by his former friends in arms was awful to him, and he had to admit that the idea of losing their respect and the little glory he had won with them was the worst thing he could imagine.
And here he was, with the Men and the Elves who considered him some sort of savior, more lonely now than he had been his entire life.
