[March 01] [KH/KH2] Decisions, Decisions

[t]itle: Decisions, Decisions
[r]ating: T/PG-13
[w]ordcount: 331
[d]ay: March 01
[f]andom: Kingdom Hearts/KHII
[p]airing: gen... for now
[s]ummary: When Hades offers you a dead man, what do you say?
[n]otes: Fuckin' weird, and might be the start of a series....

She has a choice.

Looking at him, she does not want to say no.

Her gaze slides from the stranger to the old foe. That sallow skin, dark whatever-it-is, hair made of flame.

"I gave you a choice, babe," he says, apparently bored.

They are both watching her. One with eyes that are red and glow, the other with eyes that burn black. One watches, slyly, waiting for her to say something, anything at all, and die. The other watches, likely not understanding, waiting to be dragged away, back to whatever torment he'd been suffering.

She has no doubt that he's been suffering.

Still, she does not anwer.

Hades' eyes move towards her, obviously watching. "One word. Say the word, and he's yours."

"What's the catch?"

"No catch. He's boring. I want him out of here."

"There has to be a catch. Nobody just GIVES people away."

"Listen, sweets, this guy ain't people. He's dead. Dead are boring."

"What's to say -I- won't be bored with him?"

They have about the same attention span. Actually, Hades' attention span is probably longer than hers. The lion has called her "scatter-brained", and he's right.

Her brains are all whirly-girly tipsy-topsy turvy-swervy. They're more scrambled than a very scrambled thing. She's always got swirls in her eyes and smoke in her pocket and a bee in her bonnet.

But she looks at the man, dressed all in black, flesh moon-pale against the darkness. And she thinks of the voice in her dreams, a broken, hopeless voice--

Save me.

And she has never been one to turn her back on those who truly, truly need her. She just can't.

"I'll take him," she says.

"Good," Hades says. He snaps his fingers. A puff of smoke (did he steal any of hers?) and the red-eyed man crosses to her side. "Have fun, dollface."

Yuffie laughs at him. "I'll be sure to."

But as she flees the Underworld, she can't help but wonder.

Which of them won?
