Yang Kang knew he should have had her killed when there was a chance.

Not that it mattered. She was just one girl; he was surrounded by strong fighters, and one of the Five Greats into the bargain. There was surely no harm in letting her stand there and calmly retell what happened on Peach Blossom Island. All she had to do was make a funny move and she, too, would be as dead as five of the Seven Freaks of Jiangnan.

"That was astute of you to kill them by using the White Bone Claw technique," she was saying. "Ke Zhen'e wouldn't have guessed that Mei Chaofeng had taught you. He only knows that my father is the only living person who masters the technique. Your plan was to shift the blame - and it worked superbly."

Why would she run on like this, though? To show off her power of deduction? Or was this some sort of rehearsal before she relayed her findings to the one who would need to hear it most - namely, Ke Zhen'e? She knew, then, where that blind old man had gone to.

Then she mentioned the murder of Ouyang Ke, and all thoughts of Ke Zhen'e fled from Yang Kang.
